Viva Italia!

A culinary journey through yummy Italy: This culinary trek will take us from the Island off of the tip of the boot (Sicily) to the top of the boot including the Lombardy and Northernmost region of Trentino that is bordered by the Alps. We will use the fresh fruits and vegetables that vary from region to region. Handmade fresh pasta and pizza dough making, with flavorful sauces and delicious bites of Italy are the feature attractions of this delicious taste of Italy.

Today, you will learn how to translate the Italian language into delicious food. We will begin with a nice summer vegetable pasta with toast crisps covered with mascarpone cheese and radicchio. We will top it off with a delicious melon wrapped in prosciutto.
Tuesday
L’Insalata di Riso, Pomadori con Riso, Zuppa Inglese alla Napolitana
Rice Italian style is the topic for today. We will make a fresh rice salad and roasted tomato rice. We will also make an English trifle the Italian way.
Wednesday
Insalata di Finocchio e Balsamico, Pollo Salfrato al Balsamico
con Basilico, Pepperonata alla Romana
The flavors of balsamic vinegar are explored today as we will use it in many different ways. We will top a shaved fennel salad and use it as the cooking liquid to bake chicken. We will also make a Roman roasted pepper dish that will fill the kitchen with the aromas of Italy.
Thursday
Bucatini al Ragu Estivo, Insalata del Rinforzo,
Granita al Limon con Fragole
Bucatini is a pasta from Sicily. We will make a hearty Ragu that is a summer tradition in parts of Silcily. Also we will learn how to make a healthy and yummy salad with cauliflower. Our dessert for today will be lemon granita, probably the oldest ice cream, served over fresh cut strawberries.
Friday
Pollo con Finocchio, Olive Oil e Vino Bianco,
Crostini con Ceci e Pesto, Pizza Party
Today, we will cook chicken in fennel and taste how the unique flavor works to make a delicious chicken dish with olive oil and white wine. We will also make a garbanzo bean crostini topped with a bold pesto sauce. These delicious crostinis will be a delicious compliment to our Pizza party. You top your pizza any way you want!
